The STEAM Handbook
The Zoom Fly Bolt Blast STEAM Handbook is a collection of 18 projects designed for kids ages 5-12. Every project includes a blend of applied science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
This book was created in collaboration with Galileo Learning, who infused the book with their trademarked Innovation Approach to help foster real innovation and having a growth mindset.
Rubber Band Engineer
Rubber Band Engineer is my first book, published in 2016. It features a range of DIY projects that focus on simple engineering, from catapults to a motorized paper airplane launcher.
The central theme is about being scrappy and finding creative ways to invent surprisingly effective machines using everyday materials from your kitchen junk drawer or local hardware store.
Recommended for ages 10+ or with adult support.
Duct Tape Engineer
Duct Tape Engineer is the definitive guide to building epic-sized projects with duct tape.
Even though the cover depicts a backpack, the projects inside focus mostly on structural engineering, including a usable queen-sized bed, a gigantic slingshot, and a PVC-framed kayak.
Recommended for ages 14+ or with adult support.
Launchers, Lobbers, and Rockets Engineer
Launchers, Lobbers, and Rockets Engineer is full of projects that range from mildly to moderately dangerous, and are perhaps the most fun out of anything I've ever made.
A ping pong ball mortar powered by ignited hairspray and BBQ lighter modified into a combustion blaster are just a couple of examples.
Build with caution. Recommended for ages 18+.
